Contamination!!!

Now I know why the CaSki cells [cervical cancer cell lines] that I cultured past two times were contaminated. My RMPI (10%) media was contaminated, and that could probably be due to:

a) Unsterile glass pipettes
b) RMPI liquid touched the mouth of its own bottle during thawing

I found out by incubating the media for the weekend and when I checked it today, full of bacterial and fungal growth. Gives me goose bumps thinking about it. But for the sake of my own learning experience, I took a picture.

Bacterial growth in RPMI (10%) media after 2 days. (x400)
